Message:
In the month of Assu both the temperature and rain subside. The season is pleasant and those that are engulfed in love for Paramatma yearn to meet with the Creator.
The mind becomes thirsty in the intense desire for the sight of, and meeting with, Paramatma. In such moments the Creator’s beloved, Sadhu Sant, act as saintly helpers guiding the mind in finding peace.
At this time, those that experience the sublime essence of the Creator’s love, remain satisfied and fulfilled. They are able to renounce their selfishness and worldly desires and pray only to be united with the Creator. They are blessed and are not separated from Paramatma, remaining in the Creator’s refuge and are always at peace.
Reflection:
One can does not attain peace purely by attaining a worldly place or by making others happy and receiving their respect. Uniting with Paramatma also requires humility and acceptance of the Creator’s will; being present and walking through life without being attached to worldly objects. Peace is attained by following your Guru’s teachings and remaining content.
Sant Daula Fakir Ji was a philanthropist and had attained much wealth and respect in society but had not renounced his ego and desire for worldly pleasures. When Bhai Gharia Ji went to Gujrat, Pakistan to share and spread Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s message, Sant Daula Fakir Ji was taken back by Bhai Gharia Ji and felt admiration but also doubted him due to his outlook. Bhai Gharia Ji guided Sant Daula Fakir to understand that even though all worldly pleasures and riches were available to him by Guru Ji’s grace he was not drawn to them and instead was at peace with a simple life guided by Guru Ji.
